My Philosophy

I have extensive experience in birthing over 300 beautiful babies :) It has been an honor to have supported many different types of birth such as natural births, medicated births, VBAC’s (personally had one), waterbirths, IVF’s, surrogates, adoptions, cesarean sections, teen moms, same sex couples and more. I will attend your birth in any hospital, birth center or home.

I believe that each pregnancy, labor and birth is a unique and miraculous experience and the emerging family is the center and focus of that experience. Since no two births are the same, each family should be able to choose for themselves how they would like to create their individual birth experience – where they feel safe, who they want to receive their baby, what friends/family will be present and whether they want to use pain medications and other medical interventions.

This is Your BODY, Your BABY and Your BIRTH!

I provide information so that the mother and her partner can make informed decisions regarding their options, as well as any risks, benefits and/or precautions. I am there to share my training, experience and support so that your labor and birth can be a positive and beautiful experience.

It is my goal to be the bridge that gently closes the gap between birth and parenthood and sometimes that gap closes with a simple hug!

My Story

I have a beautiful family whom I love dearly.  They are my inspiration and the core of who I am.    I consider myself a very loving, compassionate and enthusiastic person.

I worked for an Industrial Automation Company (engineering) for several years.  I know, far cry from a Doula!  I had the opportunity to do some missionary work in other countries and quickly realized I was not following my heart.  Some of my lovely friends in my book club suggested I become a Doula.  A what???  I came home and hopped on the internet and as soon as I read about doulas, I said, that's ME!!  My family thought I had lost my mind but quickly realized I was serious.  What better lesson in life than to show your kids how to follow their dreams.  I became a certified Doula and my new life began.

I soon found a job at HCMC as an on staff Doula and began doing private births at homes and hospitals.  After a year at HCMC I decided to quit and become a full time independent doula.

Six years later and over 300 beautiful families, I’m still cherishing every birth and feel incredibly blessed!

I have never been happier or more fulfilled!!
